Welcome to Immaculate Conception–St. Joseph Parish!
This is the first Carmelite parish our Order ever had in the United States. We’ve been here, in the same spot, since 1864. Pope Benedict XVI once told a gathering of Carmelite leaders, “Carmel teaches the Church how to pray.” Prayer comes in many forms, and is not excluded from any circumstance. There is liturgical prayer, contemplative prayer, intercessory prayer, musical prayer, scriptural prayer, the prayer of charitable labor, and a host of others, with variations on all of these. Here at Immaculate Conception – St. Joseph parish, we try to embody as many different kinds and depths of prayer as we can. In these continuing difficult times, prayer is not excluded… indeed it is called for. I invite you, if you are willing and looking, to join us in person or online, to express and expand your connection with God by entering into prayer with us.
